In the wake of Hurricane Michael, which devastated the Florida Panhandle in October 2018, the Jackson County School district was left with the monumental burden of rebuilding their athletic facilities district-wide. The Jackson County School Board hired Southern Standard Construction to assess the overall damage and challenged our team with the task of completing the reconstruction effort before the school year began for Fall of 2019.
Southern Standard was selected by the Jackson County School District to step in and assist them with getting back up and running. Chosen for our commitment to quality, ability to mobilize quickly and eye for detail, Southern Standard was awarded an initial contract to rebuild 12 facilities on four school campuses. Today, that continuing contract has grown to more than 28 phases at 6 different schools across the county.
The scope of work included locker rooms, multipurpose and exercise facilities, concessions, restrooms, parking lots, sidewalks, bleachers, hardscapes, soccer and football fields, baseball and softball fields, and associated utilities and infrastructure.
The project and was ultimately completed a week ahead of the start of the new academic year. The effort involved close coordination with district facilities and maintenance staff to keep the project on schedule and within budget.
